Spotlight on Frankincense

Frankincense, sometimes referred to as olibanum has been used for thousands of years. Frankincense is a resin obtained from the trees of the Burseraceae family. It is harvested by slashing the bark of the tree, which causes the resin to leak out and then harden. Frankincense is considered one of the most precious, prized, and sacred Essential Oils.

Veriditas Frankincense is Boswellia carterii and comes from Somaliland, where it is sustainably harvested through a Harvesting Community Cooperative who are paid a fair living wage, and then organically distilled in Vermont before coming to us here at Veriditas to be bottled, labeled, and then shipped to our store partners.

Frankincense has been used in religious, medicinal, cosmetic, aromatic, and spiritual applications since ancient times. It has been traded and used as far back as 1400 BC. In Christianity Frankincense was one of three gifts brought to Jesus by the wise men. Frankincense was one of the resins used to preserve bodies during the embalming and mummification process in Ancient Egypt.

Frankincense Essential Oil is used today for a variety of purposes from skin care to upper respiratory health to relaxation.

Veriditas offers 2ml, 5ml, 8ml roll on, and 15ml sizes of Frankincense Essential Oil.
