DIY Garbage Disposal Tabs

If your garbage disposal does a lot of work for you, chances are it could use a bit of freshening up! Here's a quick and easy recipe that will leave that hole in the sink smelling fresh and looking clean.

To make your cleaning tabs, you will need:
  • a silicon mold (or you can just use a spoon and parchment paper)
  • baking soda
  • citric acid (optional)
  • our organic Lemon, Lime, or Sweet Orange essential oil
  1. Mix 3 parts baking soda with 1 part citric acid.
  2. Add a tiny bit of water, mix it into the baking soda mixture. Keep adding tiny bits of water until you can squeeze the mixture in your hand and see it retain a shape - kind of like wet sand.
  3. Mix in a few drops of one of our organic citrus essential oils. I love to use Sweet Orange + Lemon for mine.
  4. Spoon the mixture into your mold and let it air dry overnight.
  5. Once dry and hardened, remove the tabs from the mold and store them in an airtight container.
  6.  To use, just pop one into your garbage disposal and let it run for a second. You'll notice the bright fresh aroma immediately and your disposal will get a nice cleaning. Enjoy!
