DIY Nourishing Clay Face Mask with Organic Essential Oils

'Tis the season to treat our skin to some extra TLC. This clay face mask is one of our favorite ways to nourish and exfoliate the face during the cooler months. It also makes a great gift for the holidays! It's quick to make and you're going to love the gorgeous essential oil in it.

 Ingredients and Supplies:
  • French Green Clay
  • Distilled water
  • organic Helichrysum essential oil from Veriditas Botanicals
  • organic Rose Hip Seed oil from Veriditas Botanicals
  • glass stirring rod
  • glass mixing bowl
  • spatula
  • airtight jar to keep your finished product in
  1.  Gradually mix 1 part French Green Clay with 1 part distilled water (equal parts). You'll want to stir the mixture as you add your water. Stop adding water when you reach the consistency you prefer for your face masks. We like a smooth, creamy texture without clumps that is still thick enough to cover the face well.
  2. Add your essential oils and continue to mix thoroughly. We used 5-6 drops of Helichrysum + 5-6 drops of Rose Hip Seed Oil per ounce of finished product. (You can check the weight of your hydrated clay with any kitchen scale to determine how much essential oil you're going to need.) Helichrysum and Rose Hip Seed Oil are incredibly nourishing to the skin. They encourage regeneration on a cellular level and, when used in this mask recipe, leave your skin feeling so soft and smooth.
  3. Use a spatula to transfer your finished face mask recipe into your airtight jar
  4. We use this recipe 1-2 times per week. To use, apply to clean face, taking care to keep the mask away from your eyes and mucous membranes. Let dry completely, then rinse. Follow with a Hydrosol, Rose Regenerative Facial Treatment, and moisturizer. The clay gently draws impurities out and away from the skin while the Helichrysum heals and the Rose Hip Seed Oil moisturizes and nourishes. You're going to love it! It's an excellent gift idea for the holidays, but don't forget to make enough so you can enjoy it yourself too. =)
