9 Ways to Use Essential Oils to Help your Family Stay Cold-Free

Sometimes Back to School season means the whole family is about to start passing around all the colds and flus the kids will bring home from the playground. This doesn't have to be the case, though. Here are some of our favorite ways to use Veriditas Botanicals organic essential oils to help keep our families healthy.

  1. Start your day with Lemon water. Add 3-5 drops of our Lemon essential oil to your morning pint of water. It'll kick start your liver and GI and get your body off to a great start.
    .
  2. Add Lavender or Tea Tree essential oil to your hand soap for extra germ protection.
    .
  3. Arm your family with a good quality, chemical-free hand sanitizer. Use it when you don't have immediate access to soap and water. Click here for our recipe. You can also rub a drop of Immunity Boost blend between your hands.
    .
  4. Dry brush every few days with our Immunity Boost blend. Add 8-15 drops to a dry brush and massage in a circular motion toward the heart before showering. Dry brushing increases circulation and stimulates lymphatic drainage, so it's great for your immune system + it exfoliates all those dead skin cells. Avoid contact with mucous membranes when using this blend and discontinue use if irritation occurs.
    .
  5. Make time for a relaxing bath once a week. Even just 10 minutes of soaking in the tub is beneficial for health and mental well-being. Add a few drops of Lavender and Rose (or Roman Chamomile) essential oils to a teaspoon of carrier oil or 1/2 cup of Epsom salts and swirl into your bath water. Bergamot and Vetiver are also some of our bath-time favorites. You can diffuse your favorite calming oils while you're soaking for additional benefits.
    .
  6. Diffuse Mental Clarity during work hours or homework time to increase focus & productivity and help you finish your tasks sooner so you have more time to relax in the evenings. You can also diffuse the following essential oils to clean the air in the work place, classroom, day care center, etc: Lemongrass, Lavender, Orange, Eucalyptus, Peppermint, Lime, Spearmint, Lemon, and Rosemary.
    .
  7. Get plenty of quality sleep. Rub Lavender or Sleep Aid blend on the bottoms of your feet before bedtime and make your bedroom a tech-free zone. A drop of Lavender or Sleep Aid on the back of the neck or on a pillow or kids' teddy bear will help induce a deep, relaxing sleep.
    .
  8. Use our Good Samaritan blend to clean the house, classroom, or your work space. It has been proven to kill over 99% of bacteria. Add several drops to cleaning supplies and hand soap to naturally disinfect surfaces. Diffuse it to defend against germs and to safeguard the respiratory system when you've been exposed to sickness. Good Samaritan is a very potent blend of antimicrobial essential oils, so dilute it or discontinue use if irritation occurs.
    .
  9. Drink good quality organic herbal teas. We love Traditional Medicinals and Alvita brands, but you can also make your own just using essential oils! One of our favorites is a drop or two of our Ginger essential oil in a glass of hot water.
Of course, eating real food, getting the proper amount of exercise, and generally taking care of our bodies also helps with keeping our immune systems functioning well. Don't give into the temptation to allow your schedule to be overrun or your to-do list to become overwhelming. Use this season to prioritize and take breaks to breathe and be present in the moment. While you're at it, utilize these 9 tips for incorporating our organic essential oils into your routine. Be well!

    1. Hi Sue,

I am so sorry to hear this! Could you send me your email address so I can check our mailing list and make sure your email is on it? Send it to veriditasblog@gmail.com.

There are two things I can think of that could be the issue -
      1. It could be that you have not yet opened the "confirm subscription" email sent out by our newsletter provider. When you subscribe to our blog, the blog (via MailChimp) sends out an automatic email that you have to open and click on the "confirm subscription" button for your subscription to the blog to be activated. Have you received this email? Sometimes it can be delivered to the spam folder.

      2. There could be a glitch with our newsletter subscription provider.

Send me your email address and I can check for you and help you to make sure we get you subscribed so you can receive the newsletter to your inbox. =)

      Have a lovely afternoon!
      Much love,
      Erin
